One of the best dinners ever. Juan Luis Martínez, the chef, has Venezuelan roots and worked at Central for years before opening Mérito in 2018. The cooking combines Peruvian and Venezuelan tradition. The ceviche is superb (considering I don't love fish, that counts double). The plating is super minimal but at the highest level. The room is small and intimate, around ten tables over two floors in the heart of Barranco. Open kitchen on the lower floor. Very quiet and dimly lit atmosphere. In 2025 it was number 4 in Latin America's 50 Best and number 26 in the World's 50 Best. 130 dollars for two. You need to book weeks in advance.
