Contraste

Milan, Italy

contrastemilano.it · @contrastemilano_

I went there for a private dinner, a project with an Italian banking group, twenty people in all. Matias Perdomo, the chef, opened the evening telling his story and his philosophy, with several interesting things to think about. He is a great storyteller. Contraste has been his since 2015 (in via Giuseppe Meda, close to the place I used to have in Zamenhof) and has held a Michelin star since 2017. The menu was served plated at the table, from caramelised Tropea onion to veal cheek with potatoes and sumac, passing through a risotto alla milanese with ossobuco and a donut alla bolognese. The onion looked almost like a glass object and was exquisite. The whole menu played on the contrast between sight and taste. The torta di rose lived up to expectations. Excellent setting, striking furniture and lighting.
